Baldwin turns a halftime deficit into a win
Baldwin’s 27–19 win over Lahainaluna on September 18 was decided by what happened after halftime: the Bears scored 14 points while keeping the Lunas off the scoreboard. A six-point deficit became an eight-point victory, extending Baldwin’s winning streak to five games.
Ryan Coppa was involved in all three Baldwin touchdown passes. His eight catches produced 187 yards, including scoring receptions of 24, 25 and 53 yards. Grayson Reuss delivered the first touchdown pass; Devin Inokuma threw the other two. Inokuma also added a two-yard rushing touchdown before the break, helping Baldwin reach halftime within one score at 19–13.
Lahainaluna’s scoring came from two Sefo Leka Rosenthal touchdown passes—to Urijah Ragudo and Kua Bacalso—and a 77-yard Kanoa Moreno run. The Lunas’ second-quarter burst put them ahead, but they did not add to that total in the second half. Coppa’s third-quarter touchdown moved Baldwin in front 20–19; his fourth-quarter score increased the lead to the final margin.
